Rock cress, also known as Aubrieta Cascade Red, is an ideal plant for the rock garden. It is a low-growing ground cover with a mounding habit that makes it excellent for use in the landscape. This terrific perennial can be easily grown from seeds and forms a low cushion of evergreen leaves, literally smothered by bright red flowers for several months.

Aubrieta Cascade Red is an excellent choice for a rock garden in sun or partial shade, growing over rock walls, or in alpine troughs, containers, or in mass plantings for a flowering ground cover. Aubrieta plants will tolerate light foot traffic.

Aubrieta seeds should be sown indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost, or directly outdoors in the spring after all frost danger has passed. Keep the soil moist until germination, which should occur in 14-21 days. Aubrieta Hybrida Superbissima Cascade Red grows as a perennial groundcover in USDA Zones: 4 - 9 and thrives in full sun to partial shade areas.
