Place the tubers at a 45-degree angle, with the non-growing end against the side of the pot and the crown (where the leaves emerge) facing the middle of the pot. Fertilize the water lilies regularly, as they are heavy feeders. Gently press the soil around the roots, but be careful not to cover the crown of the plant. The ideal water depth for the lilies is 6 to 12 inches. When positioning the lilies in the pond, avoid placing them near waterfalls and fountains, as they prefer still water.
